The study of living organisms is known as Biology. Through taxonomy living, things can be classified. The taxonomic pecking order consists of domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukaryota are three domains of life. The different kingdoms are Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protists, Archaea, and Bacteria. Phyla are more specific. In kingdom Animalia, phyla are Chordata, Porifera, and Arthropoda. There are various classes in the kingdom Animalia including Mammalia, Aves, Reptilia, and many others. There are approximately 19-26 orders of Mammalia including Primates, Cetaceans, Carnivora, and Chiroptera. The family is more specific. Genus is the first part of an organism’s scientific name and the second part is the species name. Organisms can be arranged in the pecking order on the basis of their similarities and dissimilarities through biological classification. Organisms can be classified as follows

  • Prokaryotic or Eukaryotic cell
  • Unicellular or Multicellular
  • Autotrophs or Heterotrophs
  • Homo sapiens

Biological sciences comprise all the divisions of natural sciences from microorganisms, plants to animals examining various aspects of vital processes. It covers the research areas based on the cellular basis of the living system, energy metabolism, and the genetic basis for inheritance in organisms. On one hand, the study of biology can be very broad covering the whole planet earth and on the other hand, it may be very specific including the study on microscopic level including bacteria or DNA. Living things are complex organisms. Their level of complexity includes the organization of one or more cells into tissues which in turn, form organs that together compose an organ system. Living things have the ability to exchange chemical matter with the external environment through the process known as metabolism. Hormones are the chemical regulators called hormones through which living things are capable to respond efficiently to the changes in the environment. Moreover, they have the ability to reproduce and produce copies of them through the process known as reproduction. Evolution is the process through which living beings adapt to their environment. Ecology is termed as the study of relationships of organisms with their environment. Both biotic and abiotic factors are responsible for altering the environment. Many subdisciplines and special areas of biology exist, which contain many specializations within each field.

The Journal of Biological Sciences publishes papers of highest quality and significance in the developing and broader field of environmental, biological, and sciences thus serving as an effective platform for the promotion of scientific exchange among renowned scholars and researchers. The aim of the journal covers state-of-the-art advancement in the field of medical and biological sciences and looks forward to the broader understanding of biological problems. The journal covers research areas like genetics, biochemistry, cellular biology, physiology, environment, and ecology. The objective of the journal is to provide novel insights into the major fields of biology. This journal serves the scientific community by attracting and soliciting high-quality original research papers in order to enhance the healthiness of human progress including biotechnology products like genes, protein vaccines which comprise all fundamental aspects of basic biological sciences.
